I love discovering music for myself - bands that might have been around for a while but ones that hit me at a special moment and become all mine suddenly. This is what happened last week in Sziget Festival. Some random Irish fella suggested I went to see this band at 1 am "cos apparently it is really cool". I made my way to their stage, not so much for the music, more for the Irish guy and I found the gig scene of my dreams. The dancefloor was shaking as the audience was jumping together. The air was heavy with the summer sweat of 2008 and the rhythms of 1930s Jazz. Mixed with this was a pinch of ska and house and the result was madness and wow. Music came from the heart of the musicians and transformed into an incredible joy of living at their feet. There was no end to the clapping and stamping of feet and as the band returned for the third time the white singer with the black voice was crying. They weren't prepared to bear the chemistry between their music and the thousands who fell in love with them that night.
Here are some links to the songs I'd love you all to enjoy.
Love ; On My Way Now ; Chambermaid Swing ; Matilda
Parov Stelar aka Marcus Füreder is a musician who lives and works in Linz, Austria. His style is characterized by the freedom of jazz combined with the groove of house and breakbeat. He performs as a DJ worldwide, where his sample-heavy remixes borrow enough from both modern beats and 1930s jazz as to be appropriate for both the dancefloor or the easy chair. His creative blends of old and new sounds have lead some to describe his music as steampunk or neo-Victorian. Parov Stelar is the head of Etage Noir Recordings.

Parov Stelar is awesome!
Where was this festival?
It's really great when you discover bands on your own in festivals because, as you say, they become kind of "you own".
Besos :)
